I admit it: I don't know how to throw anything out.

Somebody, somewhere might need it someday. And who knows? I might actually run into that somebody. Somewhere. Someday. Maybe. Won't I be kicking myself if I realize that I threw that much needed item last month or last year or last lifetime!

But I also have to admit that it's gotten out of hand. We barely have the space to move around in here. The thought of clearing it out is daunting, overwhelming, even terrifying. When I even contemplate it I end up running to the computer to practice one of my well honed avoidance techniques - playing computer games.

But clear it out I must. Because I'm somebody's grandma now and he's not allowed over here until I do get this place cleared and cleaned. I don't blame his mother one bit for her decision. She doesn't fault me for my (bad) habits. She's just looking out for her baby's well-being. Good for her!

I'm almost glad that my camera is broken because I'd feel obligated to post pictures to prove just how bad this place is, if only to make someone else feel better. ;-) But if anybody saw that Oprah show a few weeks ago about that couple whose house had a couple of tons of stuff taken out of it, well -- let's just say I could give them a run for their money. On a smaller scale, of course. I live in a 1 1/2 bedroom flat. It was advertised as a 2 bedroom, but there is really only one closed bedroom. The other is part of a double room at the front of the flat, the other half making up the living room.

I sleep on the couch in the living room because I gave my bed to my son and his girlfriend a couple of years ago. The plan was that I would get a single bed a couple of months later. My bedroom is small and also houses the full-size washer and dryer, so I wanted the extra room the smaller bed would give me.

Well I didn't get the single bed for almost a year. It's standing on end in my hallway, however. Has been for almost two years now. Mostly because I can barely get into my room to wash clothes, let alone set up the bed. {sigh}

Oh and the dryer is broken. It conked out last Spring. I haven't had anyone in to fix it because this place is such a mess. Besides, the person wouldn't be able to get in at the darn thing! LOL!

So I guess you'll have to trust me. This place is a disaster area. It'd make a fitting headquarters for my blossoming new church - Jesus Christ of the Latter Day SLOBS. (Hmmm ... maybe I should get that minister's card...)
