My grandson telephoned me tonight. I'm not sure what he said during the 38 seconds immediately following "Gammaaaaw,...," but I definitely understood the "yucky bug, Gammaw!" at the end of his speech.
Apparently they'd found a spider in the house shortly before the telephone call. The last time we (he and I) were both there we'd found several outside on the back gallery. One looked just like the spider on his motorcycle, which thrilled him to bits.
Well it seems that my 'name' came up after the spider was found, so my son thought the little guy should call and tell me the news.
He seems to like saying 'Gammaw.' I know I certainly like hearing it. Every sentence is capped with 'Gammaaaaaw.' I still think it is the sweetest sound in the world.
I chose not to go over there tonight. My son hadn't seen him in over a week and I thought it would be better for them if I wasn't around to distract the little darling. I'll see him on Thursday.
Another reason I stayed home was to clean out the car so I could take it in first thing in the morning. Guess what I forgot all about until two minutes ago.
Oh well, it shouldn't take me that long to clean it out. It's only being sold as junk, so it's not like I have to clean it as well.
R.I.P. my little Magenta Hot Rod. I'll sure miss you.
